Christmas has always been the holiday that I look forward to every year. For someone who doesn’t really enjoy celebrating her birthday because she hates the attention, I love Christmas because I can celebrate it with family and friends without all the attention that comes with birthday celebrations.
I’m not religious, so I enjoy Christmas for the celebration and the ideals it represents. I think it’s wonderful that we prioritise the idea of ‘giving back’, whether it be to the community or just anyone in general.
It’s so inspiring to see news reports of volunteers giving their time and money to ensure that those disadvantaged in our communities are still able to join in the celebration. It’s especially heartwarming to see that children with disadvantaged backgrounds are still able to receive presents and celebrate Christmas like any child deserves to.
On the topic of children, the highlight of the celebration has to be Santa Claus. I love the whole idea of a Christmas figure who brings presents to well-behaved children on Christmas Eve. While I no longer believe he exists, I do think he brings a little more magic to the holiday season and is a great way for parents to manage their children and encourage good behaviour during the year. If there was any chance at all that Santa Claus was real, I would be the first to jump on his sleigh for a ride!
For me personally, I do believe that Christmas is the most magical time of the year. Do you agree or disagree?
