Hi there and welcome to my little corner of the internet! I’m Cheryl, author and creator behind Cents of Lens.
I am a student who is currently at university, racking up thousands in debt and trying to find a way to make paying off my student loans easier once I graduate. I created this blog so that I could track my progress at making student life easier for myself.
I’ve gone through plenty of the ups and downs that anyone experiences as a student. Falling grades, tight budgets… All the while trying to enjoy my university experience. I’ve learned my lessons from each and every one of my setbacks, but I do have a habit of making the wrong decisions. So, this blog was made to remind me of all the ways I can improve myself and my student journey, and (hopefully) help you, my reader, improve your experience as well.
Chances are, you and I are one and the same. We’re young adults trying to chase our dreams in a world where we can’t find the time or money to do so. We wake up every day and go through the same motions. We’re alive, but are we living our lives, or are our lives living us?
It can be so easy to think that our lives are set.
Every day, we wake up, we go to school or work, we come home and we repeat the cycle, day in and day out. Have you ever questioned if this was everything life had to give? Asked yourself if this was how you wanted to live out every day for the rest of your life?
What if instead of having to go into work every day, you could work from home? What if you could travel the world and make money at the same time instead of sitting at a desk job all day, every day?
So, maybe it was time for you to think outside the box a little.
I wanted a way to make money on the side while I was studying, so I started this blog.
What’s to say that you can’t do something new and exciting to make money as well? If you’re interested in starting a blog, I recommend checking out my Comprehensive Guide to Starting a Blog. Follow the steps and you’ll have a blog of your own for only $3.95 a month in no time!
Aside from starting a blog, there are countless other ways that you can earn money from home. If you’re interested, I have so many ideas saved on my Pinterest.
My passions have always been reading and writing. My parents basically raised me in libraries and bookstores, so it’s no wonder that I developed a love of reading. These days, you won’t find me anywhere without an ebook on hand, ready to read should I ever have nothing to do. As a little girl, I would carry around with me a notebook that I used to write short stories. Now, I’m able to channel that creativity into this blog.
Some of my favourite pastimes are photography and videography, occasionally exploring conceptual photography and making short films about my travels. My dream is to one day travel the globe with a camera in hand, creating content that I love and am proud of.
My blog is mainly focused on life as a student, with a dose of lifestyle, travel and all things in between.
